A College Kid's Mind
57College
To many, college is the epitome of freedom. You can pretty much do anything, say anything, and become anything you want to be. So, why is it that most college students choose to be alcoholics and potheads?
As a college student, I know the importance of socializing and having fun; college years are meant for that. However, is partying that important?
Every year, many students either fail or drop out of colleges/universities in their first semester/year, and for those who actually make it to graduation, only the best students have guaranteed jobs.
During that period of time (graduation) of every year, statistics come out saying that there are either no jobs or not enough jobs for graduating students. So of course, we blame everything else from the government to the economy, and fail to look at the most important factor of the equation--the students.
Today, many companies are still willing to do anything to hire the best of the best. Even if there are no current openings in the firm, many would find a way to hire and invest in a graduate--if they are the best that money can hire. However, a college degree isn't enough to cut it anymore, these companies want to see experience through internships and jobs.
So, shouldn't college students (at least by their sophomore year) stop thinking so much about partying every night, and instead start building their resume?
Think about it...

You are right, college can be fun but ultimately one needs to realize why you are there and prepare for a better future.
